Diver's Alert Network (DAN)
Basic Life Support for Dive Professionals (BLS Pro)
(Visit Diver Alert Network, DAN's "BLS Pro" webpage.)

Diver Dan's is looking forward to helping you become better prepared to respond to a diving emergency while diving. If you have any questions, or would like to sign up contact us today.

Who is Diver's Alert Network?

Divers Alert Network (DAN) is a non-profit medical and research organization dedicated to the safety and health of recreational scuba divers and is located at Duke University Medical Center.  DAN is supported by individual divers and by every diver association around the world.

Founded in 1980, DAN has served as a lifeline for the scuba industry by operating diving's only 24-hour emergency hotline, a lifesaving service for injured divers. Additionally, DAN operates a diving medical information line, conducts vital diving medical research, and develops and provides a number of educational programs for everyone from beginning divers to medical professionals.

What is the Basic Life Support for Professionals (BLS Pro) Program?

The remote nature of dive accidents, whether a few hours from shore or days from civilization, frequently requires more advanced level of care than are offered by traditional or entry-level CPR programs.

The DAN Basic Life Support for Dive Professionals (BLS Pro) program is ideal for dive professionals and divers interested in understanding professional-level resuscitation techniques. This program is designed to be applicable to the diving market, including scenes and scenarios from dive situations, as well as the non-diving/healthcare market.

This program addresses basic life support skills for adults, children and infants.  Skills learned in this program that set it apart from lay-provider level CPR courses include:

  • Two-person CPR;
  • Ventilation using a bag valve mask;
  • Finger sweep;
  • Suctioning;
  • Cricoid pressure; and
  • Technique for caring for an unconscious choking victim.

How much is it going to cost me?

The total training fee is $125.00 and the fee is broken down in order to provide many training options to our clients. The breakdown is as follows:

$25.00 Registration Fee
$75.00 Instructor & Certification Fee

When you sign up for a class, the registration fee will be collected and the instructor will collect the instructor and certification fee during the class session.
